National Solo & Small Firm Conference – Save the Date!

September 11th, 2006 by Ross

It’s official – the first annual National Solo & Small Firm Conference, sponsored by the ABA GP|Solo Division is being held on October 19th and 20th in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Held in conjunction with the ABA GP|Solo Divisions Fall Meeting, this should be a blockbuster event. With three educational tracks over a day and a half, and a stellar national faculty, this is an event no solo/small firm lawyer (and their staff!) or general practitioner in any size firm should miss. The full conference schedule will be on the ABA webpages soon but in the meantime, click here to see what’s on tap.

Drawing on the energy of the Solo & Small Firm Movement that has swept the nation, this conference is all about empowering SSF lawyers and their staff. With national presenters such as Meg-Spencer Dixon on Time Management, Jim Calloway on Blogging, Paul Unger on Trial Practice Technology, Dan Coolidge on Mobile Lawyering, Todd Scott and Nerino Petro on Legal Ethics, and (we hope) Ed Poll, Law Practice Business Guru and many more, it’s THE SSF event of the year.

And a special invitation to ALL ABA Solosez listserve members – it’s the perfect opportunity to go beyond the virtual community and gather LIVE. Put a face on listserve friends – bring “The Firm” to life by attending this first annual conference.
The programming is a mix of practice management, business development, legal ethics and of course, technology programming. Along with fellow ABA GP|Solo volunteer, Jim Calloway (Law Office Management Assistance Director from the Oklahoma Bar), I have the pleasure of co-chairing this conference. The orientation is PRACTICAL, PRACTICAL, PRACTICAL! Every educational session is intended to provide plain-English information attendees can immediately take back and put to use in their practices.

With this conference happening concurrent with the ABA GP|Solo Fall Meeting (conference registration includes attendance at the Fall Meeting events and also a full year of Division membership (for ABA members or for new ABA members) including the indispensible GP|Solo magazine. The networking and camaraderie along will be worth far more than the cost to register and attend.

Watch for info on the ABA GP|Solo website – click here soon. Many ABA members will receive official emails with links to register, but it’s open to EVERYONE. On behalf of my Co-Chair, Jim Calloway, Division Chair John Macy and the entire ABA GP|Solo Division, I’m very excited about this and can’t wait to meet you in Milwaukee this October.
